By Car
From Hannover/Berlin:
Take Autobahn A2 and get off at exit 70 “Magdeburg-Zentrum”, then continue on the bypass “Magdeburger Ring” (B189 and B71).

From Halle:
Take Autobahn A14 and get off at exit 5 “Magdeburg-Sudenburg/Magdeburg-Zentrum”, then continue on the bypass “Magdeburger Ring” (B81 and B71).

Follow the “Magdeburger Ring” to the exit “Universität/Zentrum-Nord” and turn right onto “Albert-Vater-Strasse” (B1). Follow the signs for the “Universität” and, at the first intersection after the traffic circle, turn right onto “Henning-von-Tresckow-Strasse”. Follow the signs for “Fraunhofer-Institut” to the Fraunhofer IFF or the signs for “Wissenschaftshafen” to the VDTC.

From Burg/Dessau: Take highway B1. After crossing the two bridges over the Elbe River, turn right onto Sandtorstrasse. At the next intersection, turn right into the “Wissenschaftshafen” to reach the VDTC or do a u-turn to reach the Fraunhofer IFF on the other side.

By Rail (Recommended detour to the Fraunhofer IFF and VDTC until November 2008)
From Magdeburg's main train station (Hauptbahnhof), take the streetcar to the Fraunhofer IFF (planning for approximately 30 minutes of travel time). Leave the station through the main exit, turn left and go to the next major street (Ernst-Reuter-Allee). At the stop “City Carré/ Hauptbahnhof” take streetcar number 1 or 8 headed for the downtown (Stadtzentrum) to the next stop “Alter Markt” and transfer there to streetcar number 5 headed for “Messegelände” or “Herrenkrug” and get out at the stop “Askanischer Platz”. From there, take a left onto and follow Sandtorstrasse until reaching the Fraunhofer IFF or continue on to the next intersection, take a right onto Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Strasse and follow the street through the traffic circle to reach the VDTC.

Tip for users of navigation systems on finding the VDTC
Should your system not recognize “Joseph-von-Fraunhofer-Strasse 1”, try entering “Wittenberger Strasse”.
